Overview
This policy covers deendock.com and the DeenDock Android application. It explains what is collected, why, and how you can remove it. Two things stay true across both: you do not need an account, and we do not sell personal data.
The website is a free utility. The app adds alerts, offline content and a live compass. The app is supported by advertising; the website carries no advertising.
What the website collects
Using deendock.com does not require signing in. We process:
- An approximate city. To show relevant prayer times on your first visit, we look up a city from your IP address using our own geo endpoint. The lookup is transient; we do not store a location history. You can change the city at any time.
- Standard server logs. Our hosting provider records requests — IP address, browser type, page requested and timestamp — for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
- Local browser storage. Your theme, your chosen city and one-time install-banner flags are saved in your browser so the site behaves consistently. They stay on your device and can be cleared at any time.
We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking scripts on the website. See Cookies and local storage for detail.
What the app collects
- Location, with your permission. Used to calculate prayer times, the Qibla direction and nearby mosques. Location setup can be precise, approximate or city-only, and you can change it in Settings.
- Device and diagnostics data. Crash logs, app version and a push notification token are processed by Google Firebase to keep the app stable and to deliver Adhan notifications.
- Advertising identifiers. The app uses Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a device advertising ID and approximate location to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, as described in Google’s policies.
- Content stored on your device. Bookmarks, saved mosques, prayer logs, downloaded recitations and preferences are kept locally in the app. The current release does not require an account.
How we use information
- Calculate prayer times, Hijri dates and the Qibla direction.
- Show nearby mosques and prayer spaces.
- Deliver Adhan notifications you have asked for.
- Keep the service secure, diagnose crashes and fix bugs.
- Serve advertising that keeps the app free.
- Respond when you contact us.
We do not use your data for credit decisions, profiling for sale, or political targeting.
Location
The website uses an approximate location derived from your IP address only to suggest a nearby city. It is not precise GPS data and it is not stored as a history. When your network address cannot be determined, a city in your browser’s time zone is suggested instead, and only that city name is kept in the functional cookie described below.
The app asks for device location permission when you choose precise setup. You can decline and still use the app with an approximate location or a manually chosen city. Precise coordinates are used for calculations and are not retained by us as a location history.
Third-party services
We rely on established providers for data and infrastructure:
- AlAdhan — prayer time and Hijri date calculations.
- AlQuran Cloud — Quran text, translations and recitation audio.
- Geoapify and OpenStreetMap — mosque locations and place data.
- Google Firebase — app diagnostics, analytics and push notifications.
- Google AdMob — advertising in the Android app.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. Links to third-party sites are governed by those sites’ terms.
Data retention
- Website: city lookups are transient. Hosting logs are retained by our provider only as long as needed for security and operations.
- Local storage: retained in your browser until you clear site data or remove it through your browser settings.
- App content: stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Advertising and diagnostics: retained by Google according to its standard data policies.
Your choices and deletion
- Change the city on any prayer times page. The website does not need your precise location.
- Clear local storage from your browser’s site-data settings. This removes your theme, city and install-banner flags.
- Delete app data from Android Settings → Apps → DeenDock → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the app.
- Request deletion or ask a question by emailing support@deendock.com with the subject “Data request”. We respond within 30 days.
Security
Data between your browser or app and our services is transmitted over TLS. We keep dependencies current and limit what the website stores. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect what we hold and to hold as little as possible.
API credentials used by the website are kept server-side and are never shipped to the browser.
Children
DeenDock is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top of this page is the effective date of the current version. Significant changes will be noted on the website; continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
